Gone FeNaClNG
The Karratha based festival (pronounced fee-nack-al-ling) celebrates its 36th anniversary this year and is of such importance locally that a public holiday has been declared. The name, FeNaClNG, comes from the chemical symbols of the three main production and export commodities in Karratha and Dampier:
- Fe: Iron Ore-Fe,
- NaCl: Salt
- NG: Natural Gas
A team of twelve from Springwood Winmalee Anglican Churches arrives in Karratha on Wed 30 July for 11 days of mission — including the festival — with Karratha Anglican Church. Karratha Senior Pastor Les Gaulton was Winmalee pastor in the early 1990s before moving to outback Western Australia. Les says that the local church is very encouraged by the SWAC visit.
Highlights of the mission will include:
- participation in the FeNaClNG festival on Saturday-Sunday 2-3 August,
- combined churches celebration on Sunday 3 August where SWAC Senior Pastor Graham Crew is preaching
- Women's dessert and coffee on Tuesday 5 August,
- Children's Club and Family BBQ Friday 8 August
- Men's breakfast Saturday 9 August
