News from Lindsay and Lyn Whybrow in Hillston
To our supporters and interested folks,
Greetings.
May the Lord give you the peace which passes understanding in this Christmas season, and enable you to declare it to those you know and love.
Our time at the BCA Conference in Tasmania was really worthwhile: inspiring, informative and humbling. What a privilege to be part of such a team, seeking Australia for Christ! We made use of the fact of being in Tasmania to take a 12 day holiday around the island. It was all it was supposed to be, and was very refreshing.
But now, back in harness, it is good to be among the friends and folk of Hillston. Harvesting has begun after a month with no rain, and is presently halted because the rain has come. We pray for them to have some success in this difficult land.
It was a generous offer from St Matthews West Pennant Hills to have me (Lindsay) at their church for a weekend, giving what amounted to a deputation to all four of their Sunday services as well as a missionary dinner. The enthusiasm of so many of the folks for the work we are engaged in was so heartening. We look forward to further contact with them next year (along with other supportive parishes).
We are anticipating a visit from Greg Jones from Victorian BCA, who will give us a night of family music and fun. It will be advertised throughout the town for the Tuesday evening of November 18. Greg will sing and play and give his testimony on the night. We will commence with a barbecue and drinks, and hopefully use the front lawn. Please join us in prayer for that evening.
Otherwise, the Christmas celebrations have begun and will continue for the next weeks. There will be the community carols on Dec 21, run by the Uniting church. Lyn is hoping to sing on that night (if her voice is OK by them).
There will be a family oriented Christmas service at our church on December 14,and there will be our Christmas Eve Carols and Lessons at 9pm on Christmas Eve. We pray for these events to have some appeal to those who rarely visit the church.
Lindsay and Lyn Whybrow
Lindsay and Lyn moved to Hillston in February 2007 to assist in the ministry to the Anglican church. With the support of the Bishop of Riverina, and Bush Church Aid, and colleagues in their previous church in the Blue Mountains, they are involved in bible teaching, weekly services, visitation, pastoral care, community activities, and friendship building with the people of the district.
Hillston is an agricultural town about 700 kms west of Sydney. Irrigation of the Lachlan River and through underground bores, has provided an area for the cultivation of vegetables, citrus, almonds, and olives to name but a few. The big produce of the area comes from the planting of dryland wheat, along with the farming of sheep and some cattle.
