Whybrows at Hillston: news update and prayer requests
23 June 2010
Dear Friends,
Time for us to keep in touch and report to you of our activities.
A large slab of the year seems to have disappeared since we spent what ended up being seven weeks away from Hillston. Part of this time was spent in volcanic ash time zone, where we waited 2 weeks to get our scheduled flight out of Sydney. But time spent with our daughter and her family was worthwhile, exploring in the mean time a land that is on the other side of the world, and where no English is spoken (in that area of Spain anyway).
We give thanks to God for the successful visit of a team from St Marys church in Sydney. Their time spent in Hillston was profitable, for all of us. We are true partners in the gospel. That occurred one week after we returned.
The next weekend was spent at the Riverina Synod, meeting at Corowa on the Murray. This has been a prayer point for many of you, and I thank you for it.
- As plans start to be made again, could you pray for an opportunity to gather some teenage folk together in a Christian identity group (beginning with former Confirmees).
- Could you also continue to pray until the first weekend in September about the Lay Conference. After such an inspiring leadership last year I really hope that there will be some building on that.
- There will be an attempt by each parish to make something of Back to Church Sunday, on the second weekend in September. This will be an outreach attempt. May it bring an effect from the Lord.
- I will again meet with Scripture teachers in the July school holidays, to share and pray about the work. They are as concerned as anyone about the possible threats to RE in the schools. Thankfully there are no issues about that here at the moment.
- Please pray for the visiting clergyman from Lake Cargelligo, who will come to take our monthly Communion services. He starts on the 4th Sunday in June, with the services being at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
- Lyn would appreciate your prayers for her health, which has been unsatisfactory for the last 3 weeks.
So, once again it is a privilege to speak with you all, and to rejoice in your support.
Our love
from Lindsay and Lyn (Carolyn)
